Our 2019 major beneficiary will be supporting

Preventative Programs for Domestic & Family Violence

It has been the philosophy of the Ballina Food and Wine Festival to have one local major beneficiary each year from this event. This year we will be supporting the Ballina Domestic Violence Liaison Committee with a number of their Domestic & Family Violence preventative and educational programs.

It is clear that Domestic and Family Violence is a widespread problem in today’s society. The Ballina Domestic Violence Liaison Committee facilitate a number a programs in the Ballina Shire.  These Programs are vital and will make a difference to individuals and families; our financial assistance could potentially save and or change lives. Funds raised from our festival will help stop the impact, sadness and pain being experienced by many adults and children in the Ballina and surrounding areas.

The following programs we will be supporting aim to support adults and teach teens about healthy relationships.

*Escape and Recovery Fund – to assist women and their children experiencing domestic violence to escape and/or access financial support for themselves and/or their children in recovering from the experience of domestic violence, where they are financially unable to do so and all other avenues have been exhausted.

*Love Bites – a Respectful Relationships Education Program delivered to Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 high school students.

*Love Bites Facilitator Training – to cover the cost of training for additional facilitators to deliver the Love Bites programs in local high schools.

*Domestic Violence Support Group for Children – Support groups are formed each year from our local Primary Schools.

*White Ribbon Day 2019White Ribbon programs and campaigns engage men to be part of the social change needed to prevent men’s violence against women.

While our Festival provides financial support for one major beneficiary, we also support a number of other regional charities and organisations.
