30th June – 2nd July 2017 – a multi day event – 3 different events over 3 days
A community event presented by the Rotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond
This year’s festival features 3 different events run over 3 days at various locations. Showcasing a fusion of the best produce, products, restaurants and culinary expertise our region has to offer along with premium wines, craft beer, cider and spirits from around Australia and abroad.
The Food & Wine Festival is in it’s 8th year. Each year the proceeds of the festival are donated to worthy causes both local community and international projects. Some of the local beneficiaries over the years have included: Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Lifesaving, Riding for the Disabled, Heartfelt House, Ballina SES, Paradise FM, Cancer Council Australia, Ballina’s Marine Rescue Unit, Ballina and District Community Services Association, Our House, Biala Special School and Australian Seabird Rescue Ballina Jet Boat Rescue, Ballina Rotaract and Orange Sky Laundry.
Our 2017 main beneficiary is Paradise FM 101.9 – our local community radio station
It has always been the philosophy of the Ballina Food and Wine Festival to have one local major beneficiary each year and this year from this event. We are proud to announce one of Ballina’s greatest assets “101.9 Paradise FM” has been selected.
101.9 Paradise FM is Ballina’s local Community radio is a well listened to station providing a reliable entertaining service to the Ballina region and beyond. Volunteer Organisations, Service Clubs and Council rely heavily on Paradise to promote, advertise and inform the public of events and happening within the Shire. The station is always very willing to provide this service as part of their daily programming to their big listening audience.
As a further service to the Community and a means of taking the station to another level they are looking at adding a training studio to their current facility. This studio will be used as an area to teach prospective radio announcers and school children with an interest in media. It will also provide a vital back-up facility in case of a system failure in the main studio. It is our aim from proceeds raised at this year’s Ballina Food and Wine Festival to provide much needed funding to equip this second studio so enable the station to further develop the services it now provides to the community.
While our Festival provides financial support for one major beneficiary we also have a close alliance with the Ballina Lighthouse Lismore Surf Lifesaving Club who we also assist by providing funding for their junior nipper programs and equipment.
